Handicraft project : Straw Flowers
Crystal, being creative and willing to put her hands on handicrafts, she made a pot of straw flowers by using empty Vitagen bottle and colourful straws from packet drinks. She made it especially for me.
She was still busy trying to complete her craft when I reached home from work yesterday. Intending to present it to me as a surprise, she hide it from me when I approached her room. Empty straws plastic bags on the floor, coloured paint brushes on the table, it is basically in a bit of mess, I even sounded them for messing up the room.
Not long later, she surprise me with this pot of straw flowers which she made it with the help of her mei mei, Pearl.
After dinner she asked me whether I could post it in my blog, and told me to include the materials that needed for making this flower too...Here they are:
1) Vitagen bottle
2) Multi coloured straws x 6
3) Paints and paint brushes
4) Papers
5) Gum
School holidays allow time for our children to rewind and relax their minds, an opportunities to explore and experience new activities which they do not have the time to do during school days. Crystal started beading works too with my old collection of beads and findings, she requested me to buy some more beads for her to make some necklaces as Christmas presents. Pearl has little or rather no interests in beading work. She glue on her TV and computer games most of the time.

Pear's Kindergarten School result
With her result, she has proved to us that we have under estimated her talents and academic performance all this while. She has achieved similar position at number 1 in class just like what her che che did 2 years ago. Bravo..Pearl..keep up the good work, it's the way to go, my dear!!

Pearl's single attempt drawings
One thing strange about Pearl is she always takes a ball pen to do her drawings rather than using a pencil which allows her to rub off if there is a mistake, but not for Pearl, she always does her drawing at a single attempt without erasing any part of the drawing. She would discard the whole piece of drawing if she finds mistakes which she thinks she can not mend it.
This is not all. She always finishes off her drawing without colouring them no matter how we encourage her to. But she always asks to buy colour pens whenever we go to the stationery section of any shop trips. Ended up we have got a full container of colour pens of whatever brands you can name them.

After much persuasion from me and her Che Che, she attempted to colour one of her drawing but gave up half way saying that it's not nice she doesn't want it anymore. Guess only school teachers can persuade her to finish her drawing & colouring which she did in her recently colouring competition
After finishing her drawings, she sticks it one of her drawing on the door together with Angry Birds picture, declaring that this is the Angry Birds' room.

Nasty Dry Cough
Pearl is suffering from the nasty dry cough just right after Chinese New Year. We have been asking her not to eat too much keropok, refrain from mandarin oranges, and cold drinks. But we allowed her to take minimum amount of keropok when she asked for some. Pity her if she could only look at her cousins enjoying the keropok so we could not be too strict at times. She enjoyed the packets of cold soya beans whenever there are some available at the parties. Probably too much of that, she started to have cough.
Initially we thought it is just an ordinary cough which can be treated with the usual cough drops. Unfortunately, the coughing still persist into several weeks later, even up to last week. Her cough was a bad one, coughing continuously whenever she is awake, even when she is playing, drinking milk or having meals. It disturbed and annoyed us a great deal, making us worry, and distressed me a great deal. The only time she coughed less was when she is asleep. I can imagine how tired and stressful she has been with this nasty cough though she never complains.
We had brought her to the GP, Chinese doctor, two child specialists for consultations. She has taken the medications (with doses of antibiotics) that these doctors prescribed but the cough still disturbing her. We have attempted to consult yet another GP introduced by a friend whose son was having this kind of dry cough before, and was cured by this GP. The clinic was closed when we went there at night time.
Only last week, I mentioned Pearl's coughing problem to my colleague, she recommended a few vitamins that will help to ease the cough. Since these supplements are of natural ingredients, I am willing to let Pearl try on them (with lesser dosages as recommended due to her schooling time and my work hours).

She dislikes the garlic capsule, so i have to opt that out. I am giving her Propolplus, Manuka Honey (by teaspoon straight to the mouth with little water after that), and Vitamin C, and we add on Seven + for her as well. She started to have runny nose on the 2nd day, that worried us. Have flu again? But her cough does ease off a lot. It's healing reaction according to my colleague. She is still having cough, occasionally. She is in the process of recovering, obviously the supplements have helped to boost up her immunity thus far.
Pearl, mummy wants you to get well as soon as possible, be healthier again!

Pearl's tooth extraction experience
Rather than suffering from tooth ache and taking pain killer all the time, we decided to extract Pearl's molar tooth this morning after taking one complete course of antibiotic.
We were very stressful seeing Pearl crying and shouting refusing to let the dentist extract her tooth. Our hearts were about to drop looking at her struggling when dentist trying to clear the roots of her decayed tooth. Pearl also refused to bite the cotton ball to stop the breed despite much negotiations from us. Luckily the dentist managed to insert the antibiotic into the socket. We were given a Post-Extraction Instructions by the dentist for us to monitor and make sure there is no post extraction infection.
As we had promised to Pearl before going to the dentist office, we brought her to her favourite shopping mall, 1 Borneo, to find ice cream. She was so disturbed and felt uneasy to eat ice cream. She kept holding a tissue to cover her mouth and hug her daddy tightly almost throughout our stay at 1 Borneo.
In daddy's arm, using a tissue covering the mouth and holding another piece of tissue in the other hand. We understand how bad she feels after her first tooth extraction experience.
We were glad that after 15 minutes or so, the bleed has stopped even without biting on a cotton ball. She felt more comfortable and started to join her che che at the play ground but we kept reminding her that she shouldn't jump too much to avoid bleeding again. She abide.
slowly removing the tissue after staying a while in the indoor playground watching her che che play but still wants the daddy to hold.
At lunch time, she was reluctant to eat at first. With her all time favourite macaroni cheese, and McDonald porridge in front of her, she couldn't resist. She ate the whole serving of macaroni cheese by herself and adding on a half bowl of porridge. We were happy to see her eating and not complaining about tooth / gum ache.

Pray that she will have speedy recovery of her sore gum.
